Safety Manager

Safety Manager Job Locations US-IA-Oskaloosa Category Environmental Health & Safety Shift Day shift (and as needed) Position Type Regular Full-Time Company Clow Valve Overview The Safety Manager inspires a safe and collaborative workplace by aligning the best interests of Clow's employee safety to the best interests of the company.
This will be done while balancing both safety and production needs that result in low injury rates and reduced work compensation costs.
Responsibilities KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Employee
Experience:
Evaluate and track red/yellow/green (Clow's internal safety monitoring program) progress organization-wide and provide support as well as feedback to production management as needed.
Employee Engagement:
Conduct monthly trending analysis of near miss reporting, first aids and recordables to identify trending data and deliver information to all departments and shifts organization wide.
Evaluate effectiveness and attendance of safety committees and subcommittees to ensure desired outcomes are being achieved.
Sustainability:
Ensure incident investigations are completed thoroughly, with clearly established root cause and corrective action.
Leadership:
Lead annual departmental strategic planning session that aligns annual Health & Safety goals with those of the organization, set quarterly rocks within the department and hold team members accountable through monthly check-ins and quarterly planning meetings.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
Safety Culture (30%):
Promote a safety culture by effectively coaching facility groups that improve employee engagement.
Integrate employee safety strategies that promote cultural alignment and improve overall employee experience while empowering people to achieve specific position related key performance indicators.
Identify injury trends with the company and create an inviting and compelling PR campaign that unites production and safety throughout the organization.
Actively evaluate all employee facing Safety programs and achieve VPP recertification by proactively implementing employee safety changes that prevent injuries and mitigate work compensation costs.
Leadership (35%):
Effectively delegate and manage safety department tasks and responsibilities, including; new hire orientation and employee training.
Continuously provide feedback to team on the effectiveness of departmental approach and programs.
Coach, mentor, and educate employees and ensure optimization and elevation of Safety workforce competencies by tailoring career path and development programs to meet safety employee's desires and goals.
Build engaged safety committees through inspiration and by leading the way and promoting positive employee interactions.
Develop healthy internal and external relationships through clear and consistent communication.
Monitor Quality control and be a compassionate and considerate resource for safety in the organization for all employees.
Strategy (25%):
Proactively plan safety strategies by aligning safety initiatives with production needs and analyze data for process improvements.
Make astute business decisions through utilizing leading/lagging indicators that ensure maximization of production and overall cost savings.
Collaborate with management to encourage and promote a unified leadership team.
Attend safety professional conferences to stay on the forefront of leading safety techniques and advances.
Compliance (10%):
Achieve compliance mastery through actively pursuing extended safety education and staying relevant on all safety regulations.
Effectively communicate and transfer compliance and safety knowledge to leadership team.
Guarantee quality on incident investigations through corrective action and proactive planning.
Manage OSHA and Work Compensations as well as verify new equipment upon arrival by utilizing checklist while processing changes to ensure maximum quality.
Oversee the instructional writing and personally write policies when needed to enhance context clarity and delivery.
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Skills:
MS Office Suite including pivot tables, computer-based safety and health business programs such as Cority.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, Worker's Compensation code, NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, and NIOSH codes and regulations.
Working knowledge or understanding of Industrial Hygiene is also required.
Education &
Experience:
10 years of Safety experience in manufacturing environment required.
BS in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent required.
Certified Safety Professional designation from BCSP preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
